See Bob Run (12:16am)

Over these past few days we have received support from people all over the world. People who are struggling, people who are fighting and people who are chasing New School President Bob Kerrey down the streets of Manhattan (or at least that is the latest word on the street). The excitement is palpable in this room right now, and people are working the press angle extremely hard, almost obliquely.

Also, we have just overheard that the Police are going to begin restricting our access to the toilets in the building. Good thing we have lots of bottles!

  1. UNBELIEVABLE. I would have never come out and supported you had I known you were going to chase Bob down the street. I agree with many of your concerns, but that is totally unacceptable, and it is doing nothing but embarrassing us and our cause. If the police had chased one of us down the street, you would've accused them of brutality. Please please please leave him alone. I understand you are tired, and I understand your frustration, but please do not physically intimidate him. Ok, I officially feel sorry for the guy. He never did anything to deserve that, and you owe him an apology.

  2. I think it is horrible, and you are taking on a mob mentality. You need to disperse or restrategize because you have lost control.

I commend what you are doing, given you have no recourse to pursue Bob Kerrey, but I also dont think you should be chasing him down the street, there are common social barriers and chasing an old man down the street as a mob crosses one of those barriers.

  3. I second Kate's statement. If it really happened as it was described, then it was a ridiculous and disgusting display. Stop acting like a goddamn mob and more like a structured, organized movement.

  5. Yeah, and the fact that you are bragging about it on a blog that the media has picked up on is really awful. You are publicly endorsing violence as a forum that many people have taken to be a spokesperson for this cause. It is not funny and it is not a sign of your success. It is cruel, and you should not be reporting it here in such a dismissive and unsympathetic manner.

  6. Chasing people is violence now? How clear the background of the people posting here is...

  7. Hi Petrol, Chasing people, in Sorel's conception is a form of violence.

    Sorry to burst your bubble.

  8. if he didn't wanna get chased, he shouldn't have run. why run from your own students? if he wants to be all paternalistic, why doesn't he act paternally and stroll along with his kids on a nice winter night?

these issues are all personal as well as political. they affect the people of Iraq, they affect the students, they affect the staff and faculty. and they all bring these issues home with them at night. why does Kerrey get to go home and forget about all the horrible things he does? a little rowdiness is NOT that traumatic, and if he's so sensitive then he's probably in the wrong line of work. get the fuck over it and start listening to the people who pay your fucking salary.

  9. Very childish and violent. Have some respect, children, he is an old man with one leg. Chasing him down the street is no way to get something accomplished.
