The original idea of the University in Exile, and the New School in general, was to be a safe-haven for academic freedom and scholarship free of oppressive political regimes, and to be a center for critical engagement with important issues of our times. The Present Situation (6:30)
We have made a strategic retreat from the back hallway and we no longer control the 13th Street door. We are currently working to fully secure the back door of the Cafeteria and right now it is not in jeopardy.
